Review of Safe House (2012) by Jorge D — 07 Nov 2012
Yet another spy/action/thriller in the vein of The Bourne Series. Great chases in exotic locales, tense hand-to-hand combat, spies, double agents, and not being able to trust anyone. Denzel is great here as Tobin Frost, the CIA's #1 rogue spy who's in custody, and Ryan Reynolds isn't bad at all as Matt Weston, the CIA op who's been waiting to prove himself worthy of a promotion to an active agent.
What follows is not at all original, but when your cast is top notch, sometimes that's OK. The fights are great, real, visceral; the colour is super saturated, which works, and everything moves quickly.
Decent popcorn action/thriller/spy film, worth a watch if you feel like watching Denzel kick ass and take names.
