Review of Safe House (2012) by Bob S — 19 Jan 2013
Washington and Reynolds star in this film about an unsuspecting and underutilized field agent keeping a rogue agent safe after he turned himself in. I was disappointed that the story was lacking both intrigue and suspense.
Part of the problem was due to a predictable script; the other issue was a weak effort at character development. I did enjoy the action scenes which were enhanced by the gritty South African backdrop.
Washington may still be trying to recapture his career performance as the villain in Training Day, but must realize the bar has been raised.
