Review of Safe Haven (2013) by James R — 06 Jun 2013
Another typical Nicholas Sparks film based on his novel of the same name. The movie is utterly predictable. Watch the trailer and you basically know what this is all about. The actors and actresses try working with what they got, but while Josh Duhamel made it believable for a second the main protagonist played by Julianne Hough is just a pretty face and a terrible actress.
I hated her performance and thought the age difference (of 16 years) between her and Duhamel was pushing it. Overall, the movie begins at a snails pace. The 2 hour films first 45 minutes are just a lot of talking showing up at a store and walking.
The last 30 minutes cram two plot twists that are just laughable especially the ending. This is definitely a rent if your girlfriend forces you to watch it. The movie has some sweet moments, but is ruined by too many low points!
