Review of Safe Haven (2013) by Roxanne R — 12 Jun 2013
Nicholas Sparks knows the way to a woman's heart and this story is a little touching and sweet. Makes many single women wish they could meet a nice and simple man like Alex Duhamel. He was adorable! Film reminded me a bit about Sleeping with the Enemy.
Anyways, the story opens with a woman escaping from her home and catching a bus, randomly choosing a place to stay- a small coastal town in North Carolina. Katie (Julianne Hough) is trying to start a new life yet is very cautious to let anyone in her life including a widower named Alex (Josh Duhamel) that has two lovely kids.
As time goes by Katie and Alex develop a very nice friendship, turning into a relationship but will Katie's past catch up with her? Will the demons come lurking around and destroy her? Indeed relying on the power of love and faith may be the only things saving Katie in this romantic thriller.
The ending left me speechless because of a twist I never saw coming and needless to say I shed a few tears! Great scenery, script and acting. Make sure you rent in Blu-ray, grab some popcorn, iced tea and enjoy the show! Recommended!!
