Review of Safe Haven (2013) by Ian P — 19 Aug 2013
A runaway girl with a secret past finds a safe haven in small North Carolina town but also find true love. Aside from the usual Nicolas Sparks theme of melodrama, beach and romance, this movie has thriller and action twist which Sparks movie fans might find new and a plus for me.
The added theme made the run of the story more exciting to watch and keeps you glued to it until the end to discover its climax. Though, the supernatural part is not necessary, at least its addition made a feel good effect after watching it.
Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough justified their characters but quite not much in on-screen chemistry. Yet they still did not fail to deliver the romance side whenever the scene needs. The setting Nicolas Sparks movies has always been a plus.
Great shots of North Carolina beaches especially Southport. It made Safe Haven wonderful to watch and very pleasing to the eyes. The choice of places especially the house of Alex Wheatley were perfect and suitable for the setting of the movie.
Overall, Safe Haven is a recommended feel good and romantic movie.
