Review of Safe Haven (2013) by Shane Z — 01 Jan 2014

"safe is not really the word I would use.".
The reason I hated this most just let me count the ways: I hate how Hollywood wanted to try to ruin our Valentines week and insult the audiences to make a film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks' bestseller and this film doesn't stay true to its title. Is this what we really need or need to see for Valentines week?
The story: Julianne Hough in her second major role (her first was the 2011 remake of Footloose) plays Katie who has left Boston by bus, with a psycho cop (David Lyons) who might or might not kill her. She arrives in a small town in North Carolina and comes right away meeting and fall in love with a hunky widower, Alex (Josh Duhamel) with a pair of two kids.
The reason I say it doesn't stay true to its title because all it's plot twists, the film is suppose to be sweet and pleasant which it was til it's shocking final twist came up when the cop makes a thread, that alone crumbles up the film. I was liking the movie from the first 20-30 minutes then it was getting predictable, melodramatic, and lots of plot twists that turns film that was decent to bland.
Don't have your sweetheart watch this, have her watch The Notebook (another Sparks' bestseller and film) with you instead of "Safe Haven" its not safe.
