Review of Safe (1995) by Adam P — 16 Sep 2007
Masterfully executed and infinitely layered, it builds amazing tension and constantly complicates and deepens. It can be read as an AIDS allegory or a suburban breakdown; there's drama, comedy and horror, and each handled subtly, with great craft and intelligence.
It's Todd Haynes best film alongside 'Far From Heaven,' and as with that film, Julianne Moore is utter perfection.
