Review of Sadgati (1981) by Eve L — 26 Aug 2010
Wow, this is one intense movie. Perhaps Burt Reynolds best movie ever, even if he did wear a strange rubber vest throughout. It's interesting in terms of the allegory it sets up about man's relationship with the natural world. It's not a particularly flattering picture: Man is violent and determined to have power over everyone and everything. And of the four primary characters, one winds up raped, one winds up dead, one gets seriously injured, and one winds up emotionally traumatized.
Really well-acted, really thought-provoking. Also beautifully shot and worth seeing for the cinematography alone. But really intense.
