NOTE: Im not to sure if I have given any important Plot details away in this reivew, but this is the only way I could review the film by talking about certain things that happen.

Deliverance is about four friends from the Suburbs, whom go on a weekend hiking trip in rural Georgia. As the four guys played by (Jon Voight), (Burt Reynolds), (Ned Betty), (Ronny Cox) arrive into the rural parts of Georgia they are than greeted by a few of the people that live there, a.k.a hillbillies . The people of rural Georgia are very dirty, and look like they havent smiled or had a shower in years, and they practically are one big family, so if someone dosent come home for dinner than the people will start to worry. Especially when four out-of-towners are spending the weekend there. The four guys ask one of the hillbillies where a good spot for canooing is, so after a little conversation and a bit of money being thrown around the hillbillies agree to show them where a good canooing spot is.

They are than taken to the (Chattooga River) so they can go on their little canooying journey. Each of the four friends have very different personalities. (Jon Voight), is a married man that loves his family, and seems to be just a very caring guy. (Burt Reynolds), is the tuff guy of the friends that probably spends most of his time looking at himself in the mirror. (Beatty) and (Cox) are the only two characters in the film that I didnt really understand, and maybe thats just how the two characters were portrayed in the novel that this film is based on, im not to sure.

It takes quite a while for anything to really happen in this movie, for the first half and a bit we just get alot of boring shots of these guys canooning down the strong rapid waters, shot by shot of these guys canooing and than fishing, and than finally looking for a suitable place to camp out over night, and than its morning. (Jon Voight) and one of the friends take off by themselves the next day, I guess to look for something to eat, and thats when they are approached by two crazy-looking-hillbillies with one holding a gun, and this is when a scene happens that made me feel sick to my stomach, and made me say to myself, (Well that just runied the movie). What happens in that scene is (Jon Voight) gets tied to a tree with a belt around his neck, while he watches his friend get ass-raped by one of these sick hillbillies, and he cant do anything except for freezing up and watching this all happen. To top that off the hillbillie forces his friend to scream while he rapes him, and that scene is just terrible to look at. Than right after being attacked The two other friends just happen to turn up and shoot one of the hillbillies, but the other one still got away. If I was them I would chased the guy and killed him, but they let him get away.

From that point on in the movie two of the friends get wounded and even one of them perhaps gets killed, or commits suicide we never actually find out. That leaves only two of the friends left to try and cover their tracks, and hope that other hillbillies wont come back and kill them. (Jon Voight's) charcaters personaltiy changes very quickly, he now has become the tuff guy of the group, and he faces challenges that he would probably never dream of facing back at home. He even climbs to the top of a cliff just with his bare hands after a long day surviving without any water, I guess his adrenaline is pumping to the max.

The best scene and most memorable moment in the film is towards the beginning when Voight's character is about to shoot an animal with a bow-and-arrow for their dinner, but he than freezes up, and says something like "I dont know how people can kill animals". Tho towards the end of the film after everything that he has seen and been through he than actually becomes strong enough to kill, strong enough to fight back and strong enough to take charge so his friend, his injured friend and himself can make it home alive.

Alright these guys get attacked and one of them gets raped, so they than kill the sick-basterd than finally decide to burry the guy and hope no-one finds out about it. After watching the film and watching all these things happen throughout it, im still not really positively sure what this movie is trying to tell us, and I cant say that I enjoyed or actually believed most of the scenarios that occured. I guess long story short it might be telling us - (If you go canooing down a river with a very strong current than make sure that you wear your life jacket, or you will probably end up dead).
