Review of Saboteur (1942) by Steve M — 29 Jun 2008
This film has quite a lot to offer, not least a performance by Priscilla Lane, who was not to be sure a very good actress, but whose presence on the screen always tickles me. Robert Cummings is wooden or staccato, but actually okay for the part.
The film is enjoyable almost all the way through, and it has a quintessential Hitchcockian scene, one that sums him up: I mean the one that takes place among the carnie freaks. (The scene with the blind man has a strange similarity to one in Bride of Frankenstein.
).
