Review of Sabotage (2014) by Greg T — 11 May 2014
Coming on like an episode of 'The Shield' pulled together by half-wits, 'Sabotage' wallows in its gormless plot, profane & witless script, & blood-spattered action without delivering anything remotely resembling entertainment, insight or thrills.
A bunch of moronic, steroid-snorting DEA agents rip off a drug cartel but then are ripped off themselves and left to wilt under the suspicious eyes of internal affairs. But a few months later a mysterious psycho, who's obviously been watching his 'Saw' boxset, starts picking the crew off one by one, and it's left to gruff, tough & wooden Breacher (Schwarzengger) to try & stem the bloodshed & keep his troop of brain-dead monkeys together.
Why bother? Why indeed. And why bother watching this garbage? Going for the tough, macho 'Predator' vibe is fine if you've got the script & characters to back it up, but 'Sabotage' has neither.
Just the gore, and that just doesn't cut the mustard. David Ayre made the fantastic 'End of Watch' so gets a pass, this time, but Skip Woods-writer of A Good Day to Die Hard' & 'Hitman' should, like the majority of Arnie's team, be pitilessly taken out of the equation for cobbling together such a shameful, lazy & unconvincing tale.
Rubbish.
