Review of Sabotage (2014) by Leon B — 20 Sep 2014
Review:
I was really looking forward to seeing Arnie back on the big screen, but his acting wasn't that good, along with the storyline which just seemed to go back and forth. Basically the storyline is about a task force who rob some money from a drug cartel and then they realise that the money has gone missing. On top of that, the cartel are looking for revenge and Arnies wife is brutally murdered so there's loads going on but nothing that interesting. After following many leads and killing loads of people, the storyline has a little twist which, wasn't that great but watchable. I stuck with the movie just to see who had the money, but I did find the ending corny after all the trouble everyone had been through. I did struggle to stay awake and the acting was pretty poor from the cast. Honestly, Arnie is looking a bit too old to be taking down baddies, but it's still good to see him back. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
Arnie really has become a bit stiff in the latter part of his career and the wrinkles are beginning to show. He did try to bring some emotion to his role, but it really didn't work. Sam Worthington and Terence Howard wasn't that great in the movie, and the other characters were just going around shooting up the place most of the time. The person who did surprise me was Olivia Williams who held her own next to the big star, but she should have made an appearance near the end, after finding out who actually had the money. Anyway, it looks like I wasn't the only one who was disappointed with this film because it flopped at the box office. Maybe, Arnie should think of another genre to star in!
Budget: $35million.
Worldwide Gross: $18million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there action/thrillers about a task force who are hunted by a drug cartel after stealing there money and losing it. 4/10.
