Review of Sabotage (2014) by Ben T — 24 Jan 2015
Sabotage is a movie that had loads of potential. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, it's directed by David Ayer and it involves the DEA and the Cartel. However the writer of this film Skip Woods is awful.
He's the man responsible for the writing of awful movies such as X-men Origins Wolverine, a Good Day to Die Hard and the film adaptation of the fantastic game Hitman. Sabotage is a film that could have been so good unfortunately Skip Woods writing makes this film awful.
The acting is good but I hated all the characters except for Arnold Schwarzenegger's. Talking of which this is probably Schwarzenegger's best performance in a while it's a very dark performance and it's decent.
The biggest thing Sabotage has going for it is the ridiculously graphic violence. It's disgusting, flesh shredding under bullet fire, ridiculous amounts of blood projecting from wounds, bodies literally tearing apart, it's stupid that a movie like Gone Girl gets an 18 and this only gets a 15 when it should be an 18.
The end car chase is ridiculous, it seems any civilians have targets on them. We also get some stupid jump cuts which are completely out of place. There was the one woman in the group called Lizzy who kept trying to act tough but she was so annoying.
Overall this was a film that had so much potential but it was so dissapointing. This is a film I'll probably never watch again. Due to the extremely goty violence. Seriously I never want to see a man get nailed to the ceiling and disembowled.
I mean there are films out there that are more gory than this but due to the serious tone it's not fun. Ultimately though Sabotage commits the ultimate sin any action movie can, it's really boring.
