Review of RV (2006) by Willis M — 26 Feb 2009
R.V. is a friendly film that has some chuckles but not exactly the gut busting laughs I expected from a Robin Williams flick. It surprised me that his performance was quite subtle, not even slapstick but for a few little scenes.
It is clearly set out at the start that the plot is basically a man who has to tell his family there will not be a Hawaii vacation because he has to work. Instead, he decides to rent an RV, secretly work as he drives to where the meeting will be. Robin Williams is zany and wild and this movie restrains his true comedic talents. He is not that funny when he sticks to a script and in this movie, he never seemed to get to cut loose. With that being said, this is a good rental to watch with the whole family and a movie that I am not sorry I saw.
Watch the movie for yourself first, and be the judge without being influenced by any other person who probably hasn't even seen the film. Only then you will realize the true significance of this movie.
