There's some serious chuckles, but this film is not nearly as entertaining as "National Lampoon's Vacation," from which it is clearly derived.

Here, Chevy Chase's hideous green 'Wagon Queen Family Truckster' gets traded in for a hideous green Winnebago piloted by Robin Williams. And substituting for the weirdo relatives is a weirdo family of fellow RVers. The directors should have inserted a Christie Brinkley cameo as a not-so-inside joke.

I came close to channel-surfing right off this puppy when it literally resorted to toilet humor out of the gate. Williams works a 20 minute bit where he struggles to survive pumping out the RV's waste. After flirting with several disgusting mis-squirts, right on time/cue, the RV blows a poo-poo Ol' Faithful sky-high, showering Williams in brown. Oh-funn-ee.

If the viewer can get past that bit of stench, some better laughs emerge through the balance of the film.

When Williams runs the RV up the side of a steep mountain through a series of narrow, rocky switchbacks, it's a humorous homage to Lucy and Desi's "The Long, Long Trailer.".

RECOMMENDATION: Except for the raw sewage, it's good clean fun for the entire family. Next time you revisit "Vacation," throw "RV" in for the double-bill.
