Review of Rustlers' Rhapsody (1985) by Tim S — 28 Sep 2013
A great parody of 1940s Westerns, with a bit of an homage to 60s style Westerns as well. All the trappings are here, a hooker with a heart of gold, a good-guy who doesnt kill his opponents, a sidekick, an evil colonel who essentially runs the town, etc.
I probably would have enjoyed it even more if I was more familiar with the movies it was lampooning, but the only 30s and 40s Westerns I have designs to watch are The Plainsman, Santa Fe Trail, Treasure of Sierra Madre, and Fort Apache, but I do not think these are the type being lampooned.
It was more the Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Lone Ranger and that ilk; without being very familiar with these this is still a very enjoyable film.
