Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by James T — 05 Jan 2013
A film that says hope is never lost.
It doesn't necessarily focus on the two leads the whole way through, it splits between them focusing on their ordeals that they have to contend with.
A father tries to find the happyness he is blind to and a woman robbed of her privileges is in desperate need of guidance.
When they have a close encounter with one another they start to feel whole again.
I kept getting bothered though by the father seeing as he's barely responsible for his own actions and for his own son.
I love Marion Cotilliard the whole way through, her lifestyle is limited and unlike what was before yet she stands on her own.
The acting is very good, the color scheme suits it well, the actors provide the realism of the situations and the swirling emotions knock the viewer hard.
It takes time to heal what's been broken.
In the end we all feel it and that's part of the journey living and feeling something that's worth it.
