Review of Rust and Bone (2012) by Richard B — 17 May 2013
I really liked this foreign film, directed by a very good director (I really loved his previous film, A Prophet as well). The cast is solid and both Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts are very good in this.
The film looked like it might be a cheap art film, but it's actually a very solid and well-made film and had a fantastic trailer that really made me want to see the film. The film takes a lot of turns and many of the I didn't really expect.
It is a very depressing film at times and it's a film you really need to be in the mood for. Overall a very well acted and well directed foreign film that also has a great soundtrack (the film bookended with Bon Iver songs).
