This film floors me every time I've seen it. Some of you might think I'm crazy but I've sat through it over 8 times. The single cut isn't just a gimmick, it?s a beautiful element of this film's ideological basis.
It requires a passing familiarity with Russian history to really enjoy some of the emotional moments. If you aren't big on history, then enjoy the stunning beauty that fills every moment. Great if you are a fan of period pieces and enjoy seeing 19th Century Russian fashions.
The last 15 minutes of the film are the best and will leave you with a great memory of this film.
