Review of Russian Ark (2002) by Jesse T — 19 Jun 2007
Simultaneously incredible, beautiful and dull, Sokurov takes us on a one shot tour through Russia and its history via the Hermatige Museum. While some of the segments are mind-blowing, others are merely dull pretension.
No scene is languished on however, and the end result is a marvel of film making. 100 years from now, film students will look on this the way we look at Voyage to the Moon.
