Review of Russian Ark (2002) by Justin O — 20 Oct 2008
Visually beautiful and soothing, like the galleries it floats through. It may help for one to know basic Russian history, since most figures and events are not explained (but that is expected, since it was made for a Russian audience).
Though slow at times, it is a testament of European-to-Russian relations and vice versa. Russian Ark is certainly a feat in film-making.
