Review of Russian Ark (2002) by Philip H — 01 Oct 2010
The most amazing thing about the Russian Ark was that it was taken in a single shot. imagine, a single shot using a Sony videocam. you would be amazed by the logistics placed in the creation of this film.
did I mention that there were thousands of actors in period costumes in this film? huwaw. this is a must for all HARDCORE movie buffs. if you can't watch highly stylized art films, stay clear away from this.
but the heck, this film is rewarding. It's a calling card of Russia as told in a dream sequence staged in the Hermitage (Russia's Malacañang only a hundred times grander). the Russian Ark is a salute, a tribute and an artifact.
I could only wish we could make something as loving to our country as this.
