Review of Rushmore (1998) by Freeman M — 05 Sep 2013
Rushmore is a flat out quirky, odd-ball comedy that people familiar with Wes Anderson should be familiar with and enjoy. Great performances from Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman help create great tension and subtle comedic moments between the two throughout the film. Anderson focuses on friendship on human relationships throughout this film as Murray's character is a disconnected and jaded character who is still likable and understandable to an extent.
The Camerawork is what one would expect from Anderson; Perfectly symmetrical and thoughtful which is incredibly artistic and a pleasure to view while not being overly pretentious in the overuse of these shots.
The end result of Rushmore is a feel good film that made me want to go out and watch more Anderson films as this film felt nostalgic for some odd reason.
