Review of Rushmore (1998) by Tom R — 27 Aug 2010
Enjoyable Wes Anderson flick about an overachieving prep school boy who spends all of his time in extracurriculars and flunks most of his classes. The film is about his desire to stay in the academy at all costs, his attraction to a female science teacher, and his friendship to the father of two fellow students.
Rushmore is kind of like what would happen if Wes Anderson made 'Ferris Beuller's Day Off": Ferris' character would be merged with Cameron's, everyone would hate him, Cameron's Dad would become Ferris' friend, and a lot quirky, familial, teenage angst would abound.
Good movie. But, I like Anderson's later work a lot more.
