Review of Rushmore (1998) by Adam M — 02 Sep 2011
Cool indie comedy. Max Fischer is the president/leader/creater of every school society at Rushmore, a posh public school. In fact, it turns out that thats really the only thing keeping Max in school as his grades are pretty shit.
But when a new first year teacher arrives, Max falls in love and uses his admittedly creative mind to conjure up ways to get her. But he has a fight on his hands as Rushmores Headteacher, played by the always brilliant Bill Murray, falls for her lovely posh English charms to.
This may seem like the kind of story thats been done millions of times before but the cast of interesting characters means that Rushmore never feels like your watching some shitty rom-com. And its ends with the brilliant, and appropriate Faces song, Ooh La La.
If you like comedies that are more than just your average Scary Movie type bollocks, then check this out.
