Just can't understand how anyone would think this is close to ROYAL TENENBAUMS's league. Rewatched this and LIFE AQUATIC recently to give them second shots: the first half of RUSHMORE had me pretty hopeful but the second is a mess.
Max and Blume are both plain unlikeable, not in any kind of interesting way, and even the damn angelic teacher that they're fighting over began to get on my nerves!
