Review of Rush Hour 2 (2001) by Allen G — 23 Feb 2013
Oh shut up Mike Tucker!
The Rush Hour series is essentially Jackie Chan with that other guy, Mike Tucker, Chris Tucker, something like that, fighting bad people who've done/are planning to do, something bad and Chan and Tucker win in the end. Anyway, Chris Tucker's character annoys the bejesus out of me, mostly because he is a terrible human being.
It's a disappointing film- it even lacks the great fight scenes that Chan is known for, there's still some there but just not enough. The story has been done before and there's rarely good enough comedy to make up for it.
The vide just isn't right with this one- the first one and even the third one left the impression that everyone involved enjoyed the process but this one feels forced. Everythings just very run of the mill and even with Chan's presence to make things interesting, Tucker's character is relentlessly disrupting and offensive to my ears.
