Review of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage (2010) by Brad F — 15 Aug 2010
Huge Rush fan. How could you not be? And then I saw this documentary. Pure excellence! I enjoy watching documentaries that are without any narration and speak for themselves. It's simply a story of 3 normal guys who grew up thru relatively normal childhoods, only to turn into arguably one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Told by their families, peers, the musicians they've influenced and of course the bandmembers themselves. You'll get an insight into the band's nearly unattainable level of perfection and gain a respect of their strong will to stay true to themselves.
My favorite moment? It's where they cut into the intro riff of 'Bastille Day' and my kids (ages 5 & 2 years old) grab their toy guitars out of the closet and start jamming in front of the tv.
