Review of Running with Scissors (2006) by Christopher M — 12 May 2008
"running with scissors" is one of my favorite books, but this adaptation really disappointed me. the decent acting (wonderful in bening's case) wasn't enough to save this for me. the worst part for me was the soundtrack, which always seemed too loud and distracting and relied too heavily on pre-existing songs... why not give such an original story its own unique score? and, even though augusten is the story's focal point, I felt no attachment to his character at all. (also, you can make a really dangerous drinking game by taking shots whenever someone lights a cigarette.).
I'm glad that other people here mostly seemed to like this movie, but I'm personally not a fan of this one. :\.
