Review of Running with Scissors (2006) by Kimberly M — 04 Aug 2008

I fucking love this movie and think it's incredibly well done. I think the reason I'm able to understand it, though, is because I read the memoir it was based on first, so I could really see what the people making the movie were trying to do.

And were successful doing, I think. Basically, these are all people with good intentions, but they sometimes do dysfunctional/"bad" things. Augusten Burroughs is fucking awesome. Read Running With Scissors! It's more complex (obviously) than the movie.

. but I think (actually I know, because I watched the dvd interview with Burroughs) a lot of it was congruent with his experience.
