Review of Running with Scissors (2006) by Jennifer E — 19 Jan 2009

I thought the actors did a fairly good job portraying the characters from Burroughs' book/life. Of course..."not as good as the book". But I think Annette Bening plays "mentally unstable/narcissistic" really well :-)! The boy who was the main character did an excellent job with the part.

Having read Augusten's other books as well, I know he has turned a tragic childhood into something he can use to better himself, so the movie wasn't as disturbing to me as it might be to some. He's such a great writer, I inhaled his books. Funny, funny, sad, funny...
