Review of Running with Scissors (2006) by Alec B — 26 May 2010
Stylistically I felt like it was ripping off movies like The Royal Tenenbaums and Almost Famous. As for the story, well there are plenty of successful comedic dramas that deal with the issue of mental illness in a tasteful way watching this film I felt like the filmmakers put together a Victorian freak show that doesn't give us any reason to identify with or understand these characters.
Like the audience was just supposed to say, "gosh what a bunch of lunatics" then laugh. Its nothing but a series of weird moments offset by people screaming at each other for no reason.
