Mental illness done sitcom style! Worst comes to worst you should feel bad for these characters. But when the movie wants to venture into drama it goes so far over the top that the only thing you can do is laugh at the audacity.

I know people love this book and I wouldn't doubt that what happens in this movie actually happened to Burroughs. But Ryan Murphy has no control over the tone of this movie. The book was delivered in dead pan.
