Review of Running Scared (1986) by Christopher E — 01 Dec 2008
Nothing special... I remember seeing it years ago and loving it, so picked up the DVD recently. And sad to say it has dated a bit, with the rash of buddy cop movies there have been since. Although to give it it's due this did pre-date Lethal Weapon by a year.
And Mel Gibson s movie is often touted as the first buddy movie, Yet Running Scared is still actually a good laugh, Crystal and Hines bounce of well together. it's also hilarious to see a young Joe Pantoliano (Cypher from The Matrix) with the stupidest haircut since Gary Oldman in The Fifth Element.
And the clothes they all get to wear will make any youngster of the 80's cringe with embarrassment. I'm betting Billy Crystal doesn't like to be shown re-runs of this one.
