Review of Running on Empty (1991) by ***Charlie*** — 24 Aug 2008

This movie is really heartwarming. River Phoenix's performance was brilliant which infact earned him an oscar nomination - and rightly so. Its about a family who are always on the run, because the parents blew up a napalm lab in 1971 to protest the war.

However, their son has grown up a lot, and is at risk of losing out on what he wants for the sake of his parents mistake. Its a really thought provoking and tear jerking film. Its all about sticking together, but also letting go.
