(1988) Running On Empty.
DRAMA.
One of the most original plots of the genre and is the best River Phoenix had ever done until he died in 1993, even better than "Stand By Me". A family wanted by the FBI because of an incident that had happened back in the "Woodstock" days involving innocent bystanders . Which turned into an on going manhunt for the perpetrators that started it in the first place and changing the whole family forever, moving from city to city with new, made up identifications each new city they come across. Although the story seems fictatious, it's like a possible scenio to happen to an actual family. An this is how they dealt with it, even if it means dragging their kids into this!! This is also a very good character study- one of few films that uses the term of their family described as an "unit"!!
The theme of this film was so good that part of this story was echoed again for a popular syndicate of "The Simpsons" pilot regarding Homer Simpson's real life mother!!
4/4.
