Review of Runner Runner (2013) by Kavita P — 13 Oct 2013
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner? Oh wait this isn't blackjack...Nothing to shout home about. Predictable story line. How to con a con artist. Timberlake is actually tolerable, playing Ritchie, a sharp Princeton grad student who loses his money in online gambling (poker) to a felon (Ben Affleck) and then tries to get it back.
Good pace. Not too much depth with the storyline. Affleck's character, Block is stuck in Costa Rica. Bribes are suddenly not enough for authorities. FBI is trying to detain him but have no jurisdiction.
Ritchie is the man who can figure out how to make him even more money and live the cushy lifestyle. I find that Ritchie initially is quite naive. But at some point he got a clue. While Gemma Arterton was basically hanging around to look pouty and pretty.
Her character didn't add too much substance to the plot. But at the very least she was good eye candy.
