Review of Runner Runner (2013) by Meredith R — 14 Oct 2013

Not as bad as the wretchedly hideous reviews would make it seem. It isn't stellar by any means, it's just quick, entertaining, and mildly riveting. I feel that if it had been released in March or April, when there isn't much going on at the box office, it may have had a better reception, but to release it in the middle of Oscar season wasn't the best idea.

Timberlake is actually a decent actor, but I don't see him having much in the way of variety for future projects. Affleck is good, but phones in his performance a little. Truth be told, I probably became a bit biased in favor of it as soon as I saw it was an Appian Way production - which is Leonardo DiCaprio's production company and he was an exec producer on it.

Overall, it isn't horrible, but it isn't spectacular, either.
