Review of Runner Runner (2013) by Guido S — 03 Mar 2014
Justin TImberlake is a Princeton student trying to pay his tuition through advertising a gambling site. He tries to gamble his remaining money to pay tuition, but ends up getting scammed We're told online gambling is the new drug of the day by various news talking heads saying so and how our young minds are wasting their lives away.
Timberlake goes and find who scammed him and ends up being recruited by Matt Damon in Costa Rica to help him run his casino. Turns into your standard Firm/Wall Street/Boiler Room type movie. Despite being in Costa Rica, it never uses that surrounding at all which is a travesty, it never felt exotic and instead felt generic.
This is just another story that's been told a million times, but not interesting and the script felt like it was haphazardly thrown together from other smaller ideas.
