Review of Runner Runner (2013) by Leon B — 11 Apr 2014
Review:
I personally didn't think that much about this film. The storyline wasn't that interesting and it was predictable from beginning to end. Ben Affleck, who is the kingpin of online gambling, recruits Timberlake as his 2nd in charge after he finds out that he has been conned out of his college fund. The concept wasn't bad, but the director didn't execute it that well. There are a couple of twists in the storyline, but you can see them coming.i can't blame the actors for there average performances, because they didn't have a lot to work with. In all, there is some intensity during the movie, but there's nothing that really stands out from other movies in the genre. Average!
Round-Up:
I'm not a big fan of Ben Affleck because he acting style is the same in a lot of his movies and he has made some really bad choices. From Daredevil, which is an awful movie, to Gigli and Paycheck, his career didn't really make a big impact like Matr Damon who is loved in Hollywood. His comeback movie, Argo, did extremely well at that time and we are all wondering how he will take on the Superman franchise, but personally I haven't got that much faith. Justin Timberlake seems to have his fingers in quite a few pies at the moment. With his acting career taking off, and his tours and album releases, he seems to be extremely busy. His acting career hasn't really blown up, but he has shown that he is up for any challenges that are put forward to him. All of the other characters were pretty average but sadly forgettable.
Budget: $30million.
Worldwide Gross: $63million.
I recommend this movie to people who are into there drama/thrillers about a guy who takes on a online gambling kingpin. 4/10.
