Review of Runaway Jury (2003) by Deb S — 16 Jul 2010
Packed with an incredibly-talented cast that included Gene Hackman, Rachel Weisz, Dustin Hoffman, and John Cusack, RUNAWAY JURY wields a potent storyline dealing with the ever-controversial gun debate. This is apparently the first time that Hackman and Hoffman have been in the same film together, and there's enough chemistry and promise to make this a fast moving thriller with a lot of excitement, twists and turns that never loses speed for the whole two hours.
John Cusack gave a terrific performance as an apparently reluctant juror, who is actually an imposter moving from city to city, hoping to get onto a key jury to gain revenge on suave, cold Rankin Fitch (Hackman). His motive is to extort, with the help of partner Weisz, $$millions with the promise of swaying enough jurors into delivering a favorable verdict for the gun company.
