Review of Runaway Jury (2003) by Andrew C — 01 Jan 2011
Usually when Hollywood adapts an excellent novel they screw something up or miss the whole point; however, this film is perhaps the single best example of a successful adaptation making relevant changes while still portraying the novel's thrust.
Not only was the plot appropriately updated from suing a tobacco company to a gun manufacturer but the script & dialogue were massaged to reflect the talents of the excellent cast. John Cusack does a great job as the main character managing more than a dozen moving parts to this fast moving puzzle but multiple Oscar winners Hackman & Hoffman steal the show with excellent contrasting performances.
6/7/9.
