Review of Run Lola Run (1998) by Jason H — 05 Feb 2010
So much fun! If only life could be restarted and replayed until it ended right. Lola personifies life's heartbeat, loud and untamed, able to regenerate and begin again to keep on living. This film is a clever experiment that bends the rules of what cinema has been established as before this film was ever created.
You think it ends all to quickly but it gets the jump on you. Messy and gritty but ultimately organized and brilliantly structured, this film moves at breakneck pace; an 80 minute techno music video with a story and heart.
It blends animation, fast and slow motion, sudden violence and absurdist humor with great skill. A true independent film from the MTV generation.
