Review of Run All Night (2015) by Norman R — 29 Mar 2015
Easily overlooked movie that is Jacobian in nature filled with murder, mayhem, today's underground, and yes from the bleakness of a mechanics soul promoting family and much needed mentoring among the racially impoverished......................
....Most will not enjoy this movie but the cast to a person is stellar and still Liam Neeson comes through but not far behind is Ed Harris as his boss, friend, and ultimately enemy........................................................................................................
Today's underground plays for keeps with "legit" businesses while those that tried the old ways met their fates along the way. Still the old brutal system is in place behind the facades of Legit business where the Great Gatsby's of this world are not seen with all their opulence. Family life is rather aped from the American Dream with kids surrounded by goons and familial strife still trying to rise from with in the old fashion way...............................................................................................
One has to buy into the mechanic with a soul but with Neeson we have been sort of set up with a down and outer trying to do right at the last second for all around him as the last survivor as in "Grey" and the Federal Agent on the plane. Our beloved actor, the best in filmdom, is still haunted by the death of his wife and I pray that Hollywood with give this man a break to head elsewhere for our deliverance into his personal life. A nice Western would be real nice. Regardless, to me he is the best thing going among males these days in film. In "Grey" he ought to have won the Academy award...................................................................
I do recommend this film for adults that enjoy action, fine ensemble work, and a darker side that comes out it's hind end for family and frankly an answer that states that IF "blacks" cannot mentor than why not we among the anglo also rans! Sure! Strong Three Star but not for everyone .
