Review of Run All Night (2015) by Brandon W — 17 Sep 2015
Liam Neeson teams up with Jaume Collet-Serra for a third time to make a movie called Run All Night which is a great film that shows much much of a good team they are for action films. As for the plot compared to their previous films, it's more generic, but as its own movie, it's not entirely unoriginal.
I like the beginning with the conversation between Liam Neeson and Ed Harris as you can tell how much of a friendship they have, which makes it more effective when it goes to his son being killed by Liam Neeson's character, and knowing that they are going to try to kill each other.
The action scenes are really good, and so are the car chases. I like the father/son relationship between Liam Neeson and Joel Kinnaman albeit it was a bit clichà (C)d. Liam Neeson is great as usual, Ed Harris as a villain is terrific casting choice and he didn't disappoint.
Joel Kinnaman is still really good which I'm still a bit glad that he's getting well known after the remake of Robocop and the show The Killing. As much as Common's character is a cool villain, it felt like a plot device to keep the movie going, and not only that, he was a bit pointless.
The plot can be convoluted at times, but I know that Run All Night was just trying to be a fun movie which succeed, even if it wasn't Liam Neeson's best film.
