Review of Run All Night (2015) by Jamie C — 23 Apr 2016
Aside from Neeson's always gritty performance, what I like most about this film is the music. Thinking that it may have been composed by Hans Zimmer, I checked into it and discovered that a a Dutch composer who goes by the name Junkie XL did the music for this film.
But the really cool thing is that XL and Zimmer do a lot of collaborating on film projects (which explains the similarity in style) and so I guess I wasn't completely off the mark. I thought Common and Ed Harris also gave outstanding performances and was happy to see Nick Nolte getting some work again in a small uncredited role.
The only major complaint I have about the film is that too many scenes were shot in the dark for extended periods of time and, to me, too many low light scenes make me feel cheated. Thus, only 4 stars.
