(2005 Director: Rob Reiner) I looked forward to seeing this Rob Reiner film. Sarah's dad (Richard Jenkins-The Visitor) picks up Sarah his daughter (Jennifer Aniston) & Jeff (Mark Ruffalo) her fiance at the Pasadena, California, airport when they arrive to attend her sister's wedding.
This was a wonderful movie to re-watch on Father's Day because of the subject of paternity dealt with in this movie. Grandma (Shirley MacLaine) portrays an all-knowing grandmother & admits to being pregnant with Jennifer's mother when she was a bride.
Kathy Bates stars as Sarah's Aunt Mitzie whom Sarah seeks out during this trip to find out whether or not she is illegitimate & discovers her mother's ex-beau Beau is her possible real father.
Jennifer is struggling with her qualms about marriage--hoping for more out of life, which she discusses with Grandma. Greeting her future grandson-in law, she asks,."Hello you don't look like a lawyer.
" Jef responds, "Thanks. You don't look like a Grandmother." Maclaine toasts the new couple: "To Annie & Scott. Life is short but marriage is long, so drink up and it will make it go a hell of a lot faster.
" Kevin Costner plays Sarah's mom's old beau, Beau whose home overlooks beautiful Half Moon Bay, California (a little outside of San Francisco, CA). Beau invites Sarah to attend a Charity Ball "Casablanca Night" with him before she returns to NYC.
Ooohh la la@@@!! Favorite line: "Come on in. I'll put on a pot of bourbon.".
