Review of Rumor Has It... (2005) by Charlotta L — 13 Jul 2010
Well, I'm not sure what to say about this one. It has some references to the brilliant classic The Graduate and to be honest, it kind of insults that one. Because even if it has Shirley McLaine, who did bring some laughs out of me, and had me gushing over Mark Ruffalo's cuteness (Am I the only one who just wants to pinch that guys cheeks?) it was pretty pointless.
Sarah Huttinger finds out that her family is the family that the famous book and later movie The Graduate is based on. Her grandmother is "Mrs. Robinson" (hums Simon&Garfunkels song...) and her late mother the daughter. As if that wasn't complicated enough she realizes that the guy that allegedly seduced both her mother and grandmother might be her father. So she looks the man up, finds out he isn't her father and promptly falls into bed with him. At the same time cheating on her adorable fiance Jeff aka Mark Ruffalo. Now why would anyone cheat on Mark Ruffalo that alone is complete bogus. And so is the plot.
Anistons character annoys me to no end. So does Kevin Costners now that I think about it...the two characters deserve eachother. The only thing that kept me watching was MacLaine and Ruffalo. So all in all...it was pretty henious.
