Review of Rumble in the Bronx (1995) by Beth P — 15 Apr 2008
First of all, take a good look at the box cover. This guy is a fucking magician of action.
I would call this movie "pure action," because it is very stripped down compared to the standard action flick ten years later. Oversimplified plot that exists only to facilitate stunts and fighting, but doesn't spend a lot of time trying to make itself seem like anything other than that. The action is simultaneously exciting and plausible (because you know Jackie & Co. are actually doing all that shit), however elementary the psychology.
What I'm trying to say is: how could you possibly not like Jackie Chan? HOW?!
