Review of Rumble Fish (1983) by Ruhan R — 28 Aug 2010
I never read the book, but I am familiar with The Outsiders so I'm familiar with S.E. Hinton's style. She seems to be real fond of grimy teenage street gangs and epic brawls. This film had some good acting, Matt Dillon and Rourke worked well together.
It was interesting seeing Nicolas Cage at such a young age as well. I'm sure the novel would have entertained me, but this film felt rather slow with little direction. The characters felt genuine enough, it just seemed like the plot lacked drive.
